OperaFest Students Perform ‘Magic Flute’ Sunday at Tabernacle

first_imgLocal students will perform Mozart’s “Magic Flute” on Sunday, June 7, at the Ocean City Tabernacle. Students from the Cape May County area will perform Mozart’s “Magic Flute” on Sunday at the Ocean City Tabernacle and at two other performances this weekend.The cast of OperaFest International, founded locally by vocal instructor Nancy Fox, will be joined by seasoned professionals and the OperaFest String Ensemble.Admission is by donation to the show at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 7 at the Tabernacle at 550 Wesley Avenue in Ocean City.The show is a family-friendly fun fairy tale about the search for goodness, integrity, honesty and love.This will be the fifth year that local students will participate in the international program. Eight area students will spend 15 days rehearsing and performing with German students, living with German families, touring and performing.Participants to audition, rehearse and perform locally over the course of several months. They then travel to another culture for two weeks. While abroad, they collaborate with students from the host country in a shared experience of touring, performing and living with an exchange family to really get a feeling for life in that country.“Our aim is to imbue students with a very high level of music and vocal skills,” Fox said. “More importantly, we are introducing these young people to an international experience that will teach and inspire them to become our leaders of the future.”The cast members return the exchange experience by welcoming the host country cast to Ocean City.
